What is a stretch ceiling? Construction, properties and uses

Definition

A stretch ceiling is a ceiling covering system for interiors. A PVC membrane or a special fabric is stretched and fixed beneath the ceiling surface, producing a flat, smooth finish.

Because the membrane is flexible, the ceiling can be built as a single plane, multiple planes, an asymmetric form or at an angle. The system hides the existing ceiling and is installed without damaging it.

6 core properties

Appearance

A flat, smooth surface, adaptable to the interior through different colours, patterns and prints.

Lighting

The space behind the membrane can hold concealed lighting. Spotlights and other lighting systems can be integrated, and cabling stays hidden above the ceiling.

Sound

It can improve a room's sound insulation and reduce noise, which is why it is used in offices and home cinemas.

Moisture and mould

PVC-based membrane resists moisture and mould, so it can be used in humid rooms such as bathrooms and kitchens. Our PVC product's antibacterial structure prevents mould and fungus from forming.

Installation

Fast and practical to install, it covers the existing ceiling in a short time, which lowers labour cost.

Maintenance

Easy to clean, with a surface that resists dust and stains. It keeps its factory appearance for years and needs no repair.

Weight: 240 g per m²

Stretch ceiling membrane weighs 240 grams per square metre, far lighter than other ceiling materials.

Stretch ceilings and prices in Türkiye

Stretch ceilings became known in Türkiye around 1995. At the time, difficult imports, unfamiliar installation work, little competition and very low volumes pushed prices very high.

Over the years, prices have fallen in foreign-currency terms while sales volume has multiplied. In 2018 we invested in automation, aiming to lower prices and raise quality.
